Ms. Prince's Life Skills WIN group just completed their tools unit and built birdhouses! Students learned about different power tools, took a safety test, and got to work! This was the first time that most of the students have ever used tools, but they overcame their fears and built some awesome birdhouses!

Spirit Night! Hope to see you all there.
Happy National Custodians Day! At St. Mary’s Middle School, we’re so thankful for our amazing custodians who work hard every day to keep our school clean, safe, and welcoming. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed. You make a big difference, and we appreciate you more than words can say!

We're proud to recognize Coach Jenkins as the Spotlight Teacher of the Month for September. Congratulations!

Students in Mrs. Durden's 7th grade science classes had some fun using playdoh to create the stages of mitosis. The classes learned about the cell life cycle. In small groups, they showed each stage of cell division with playdoh and explained each stage before moving on to the next one. Students loved the hands on application of cell division.

SMMS "Walk in My Shoes" Event Brings Sixth Grade to Life!
On Tuesday, September 23, sixth-grade families got a firsthand look at life as an SMMS student during the engaging and interactive Walk in My Shoes event! Parents followed their child’s daily schedule, stepped into the classrooms, and experienced a day in the life of a sixth grader. Teachers shared what students are learning, offered tips for supporting success at home, and showed families how to track academic progress. The event also featured participation from the SMMS PTO (PAWS), All Food Matters, and Cookie Cow, adding extra fun and community spirit to the experience.

Mrs. Wilson’s 7th Grade Healthcare Science Goes Forensic!
This week, our 7th grade Healthcare Science classes got to play detective while learning all about Forensic Science—the awesome mix of healthcare and the legal system.
We discovered cool careers like Forensic Pathologists (they study clues inside the body) and Forensic Nurses (they help patients while also collecting important evidence).
On Monday, the St. Mary's Police Department visited and showed us how to:
👉 Take fingerprints
👉 Learn how DNA is used to solve mysteries
Each student even got to take home their own child identification card to share with their parents.
It was an exciting way to see how science and healthcare help solve real-world crimes and mysteries! 🧬

Things are getting a little ducky around SMMS!
Students, keep your eyes open—you’ll soon spot random rubber ducks hiding around the school. Each duck has a strip of paper with the website address to order your yearbook.
If you find a duck, take it home and share it with your parents—then ask them to order your yearbook!
Yearbooks are currently at the lowest price of the year, so don’t miss out.
Get quackin’ and see if you can find a duck to take home!
